Liquid Crystal Display or LCD is a thin and flat device for display. It is produced by many color and monochrome pixels that are arranged in the path of a light source or reflector. It uses little electricity and therefore often used in battery powered electronic devices. The technology is very different from CRT technology which is used by many desktop monitors. Was only used on laptops for a very long time. Only recently was offered as an alternative to CRT monitors. They take up less desk space and are much lighter than CRT monitors. But they are also very expensive.
Each pixel of the LCD screen is a layer of phosphor molecules between two electrodes, which are transparent between two polarizing filters. Because there is no line between the liquid crystal polarizing filters, light which has passed the first filter will block the second polarizer. The surface in contact with the crystal is processed to combine in a certain direction. The direction of alignment is defined by the direction of friction.
Resolution on the horizontal and vertical size in pixels, is best supported for display purposes. This is one of the things that separates the LCD monitor. Step is defined as the distance between two adjacent pixels. This is the minimum for sharper image. Each pixel is divided into three cells, or sub-pixels. These are the colors red, green and blue. Each sub pixel can be controlled independently for millions of color combinations. Older CRT monitors use phosphors for sub pixel structure. Analog electron beam is not exactly setting the sub pixels.
